FYAT Program Structure

All entering students will be assigned a Faculty Adviser and Peer Student Mentor to facilitate their transition to university life and higher education, and provide individualized and group advising to ensure their academic success and personal development.

A First Year Advising Team (FYAT), consisting of one Faculty Adviser and one Peer Mentor, will guide each group of new students during their first year at the university. Each individual FYAT will meet with new students at discrete points of intervention in order to monitor and assess their academic performance, and guide their academic planning during the first year.

The Faculty Advisers are selected on account of their dedication to academic and student life at BRAC University. They come from all the major departments and schools at the university, and are typically involved in a variety of academic and co-curricular activities both in an out of the classroom.

The Peer Mentors are returning students who are typically in their sixth of or seventh semester at BRACU. They form a strong network of student volunteers who are selected on the basis of their outstanding academic results and involvement in student activities.
